Modern life would benefit from more knobs. Lots of opportunity to adjust things and get tactile, sensory feedback. And we haven’t even acknowledged the elephant in the room, which is that bank of sliders. Unrelated: Chopsticks are an elegant way to eat, supported by the idea that the chef should do all of the preparation in the kitchen so that the diner doesn’t need to saw or hack at their food. Think about it. Maybe we should redesign Western cuisine so that it’s meant to be eaten with chopsticks.
